Germany dismisses France's calls for more efforts to spur EU growth

FXStreet (Łódź) - German government spokeswoman Christiane Wirtz said on Wednesday that Berlin didn't see the need to implement additional measures to spur growth in the EU, for which action French president Francois Hollande called on Monday in an interview for the Le Monde newspaper.

Hollande suggested that Germany was the only country in the Eurozone able to invest more due to its high export surplus and the stability of its financial system.

But Wirtz pointed out that "Germany is already the most important growth motor of the euro zone," essentially dismissing Hollande's request and, in the opinion of Ryan Littlestone from Forex Live, suggesting that France is on its own from now on.
